From Production Worker to Foreman

Metiäinen began his career in 2019 as a production worker at Kaskein Marja's production facility in Lappeenranta. For Kim, it was his first step into the food industry. When Kaskein Marja became part of the Polarica Group in 2021, it opened new doors for Metiäinen’s professional development.

Over the years, his hard work has been rewarded with regular promotions. Today, Metiäinen is working as a foreman in the same factory where he started his career. 

Problem-solving and the Boosting Team Spirit 

Polarica’s production facility in Lappeenranta specializes in the production of bottled beverages, including fruit juices, mulled wine, and mead. As a foreman, Metiäinen is responsible for supervising employees, planning shifts, and ensuring everything runs smoothly on the production line.  

"I value the freedom and variety in my job. Every day brings something new, and I can work at my own pace," says Metiäinen.  

Problem-solving plays an important role in his work. At times, the factory faces various production challenges, such as equipment failures or unexpected employee absences. 
"Knowing the production process inside-out helps me find solutions quickly. My experience on the factory floor has been invaluable." 

Metiäinen supervises fifteen production workers. Boosting team spirit and motivating his co-workers is also important to him. 

"I make sure our team’s shift schedules work for everyone, and I encourage open communication. When employees feel valued, team spirit grows naturally," he explains.

Metiäinen is happy he started his career in Polarica.  
"I would recommend Polarica as an employer. The company encourages us to develop our skills and provides plenty of opportunities for training. That’s something I really appreciate.” 

Since the merger of Polarica and Kaskein Marja, Metiäinen has seen the company flourish. 

“Production volumes have increased, and we have more customers than ever before. It’s great to see how much we’ve grown, and I’m proud to be part of it.” 

Balancing the demands of a fast-paced job, Metiäinen has a way of staying energetic and focused during his shift. 

"If I’m sitting in the office, I like to listen to music while I work – it keeps me active. Wu-Tang Clan is my favorite."
